IFK Russia success at Russian Open 2016

IFK Russia fighters were very successful at the Russia Open 2016 with Artem Nazaretyan taking 2nd place, Artur Tilov 3rd and Artem Lialikov 7th place. In the womens category Irina Kryazheva gained 2nd place.

Special awards went to Artem Nazaretyan for most spirit at 72kg he was one of the smallest in the competition. Arthur Tilov for best technique, Mariya Panova for most spirit and Marina Sobanina for best technique.

A successful 3rd IFK World Black Belt Seminar - family from all across the globe

The 3rd IFK World Black Belt Seminar took place between 27th April and 1st May at the famous Papendal Olympic Sports Centre in the Netherlands.

Hanshi Steve Arneil along with his instructors Shihan's David Pickthall, Liam Keaveney, Alexander Taniushkin, Eddy Gabathuler, Janine Davies, Victor Fomin and Alexey Gorokhov hosted sessions on Kihon, Kata, Kumite and Weapons along with guest classes in BJJ and Krav Maga.  Additionally, special guest instructor Shihan Semmy Schilt joined the group.

175 black belts from 21 countries participated with a final-day "kyu grade" open day.

Countries included:
Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Israel, Iran, the Netherlands, Nepal, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Switzerland, Ukraine, Uruguay, USA.

The IFK want to thank the organising team led by Sensei Kevin van der Boor who have done a tremendous job to make this event run smoothly.

Turkish Open 2016 held in Anatalya

The Turkish Open was held from 18th to 20th March at the Kremlin Palace Hotel, Anatalya.

Over 600 participants took park in Kumite and Kata from all age groups to get selected for the Eurasia Cup 22-25 April at the same venue.

Thanks go to Isa Saglam and Ismail Yuldirim for organising the event and to the Turkish Wu Shu Federation for their support of the IFK Budokaido Kyokushin Organisation with both events.

10th IFK Kuwait Camp / IFK Russia

IFK Kuwait recently completed the 2nd camp in Kuwait with instructors Shihan Bogushov Vasilii and Sensei Tochilov Artem from IFK Russia.

The camp was attended by by adults and juniors alike who were introduced to IFK Russia's training methods.

Weekend seminar in Sarnen, Switzerland with Shihan David Pickthall and Klaus Ming

Shihan Klaus Ming and the Obwalden dojo arranged a weekend seminar in Sarnen under the instruction of Shihan David Pickthall.
145 karateka including 44 black belts from 16 IFK dojo's and 3 Shinkyokushin dojos participated in sessions focusing on Kumite and Kata.

Soshu Shigeru Oyama - RIP

Sad news for Kyokushin historians, Soshu Shigeru Oyama passed away last night. He was a pioneer in honbu at the start of Kyokushin in the 60's. He was the 3rd man to complete the 100 man test and became the head Shihan in Kyokushin after the departure of Tadashi Nakamura.

In 1981 he left Kyokushin to start World Oyama Karate with its headquarters in New York where he was based.

When the IFK started we had an active relationship with the World Oyama Organisation participating in their European Championships and their US Championships in Alabama. They also regularly travelled to the British Open and our other International events.

Kazakhstan Winter Camp 2016

IFK Kazakhstan held their winter camp this year at Almaty. under the guidance of Shihan David Pickthall.

Organised by country rep Sensei Igor Shipilov and area representative Sensei Sergey Radchenko, there was attendance of students from Kazakhstan, Russia and Kyrgyzstan focusing on different aspects of Kihon and Kata.

IFK Australia Summer Camp 2016

IFK – Australia Summer Camp Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th January 2016

We had a great time at the recent IFK-Australia Summer Camp with Shihan David Pickthall from the UK taking 3 days of great karate. Covering areas of Kihon, Kata and Kumite, with around 60 people attending the camp over the 3 days. 

What a treat to train with such a talented and inspirational Karateka such as Shihan David Pickthall. Again the highlight of the camp was the beach session on the Sunday morning we all had a lot of fun.

Again it is great to see other Kyokushin Organisations supporting this event, thank you to Sensei Daniel Trifu from (KWF) AFK, Sensei Graeme Rose “Rengokai”, Sensei Daniel Langworthy and Shihan Trevor Trainer and for bringing along your students. As we are all working towards a United Kyokushin! Osu and thank you for your support.

 Can’t wait for the camp again next year, OSU!”

Doping results from the 2015 KWU World Championship. 6 Fighters stripped of titles.

The Organizing Committee of the 2nd KWU Kyokushin World Championship among men and women in weight categories held last October in Khabarovsk announces results of the doping testing.

During the Championship 56 Samples were taken from the athletes prize-winners to test them on usage of prohibited substances taken for better results.  After all the necessary procedures involved in this process, decision made of the Supreme Judge of the 2nd KWU Kyokushin World Championship in Khabarovsk, by Shihan Yuri Trutnev are as follows...

IFK Champions at Kyokushinkan All Japan Tournament 2015

The IFK gained two champions at the Kyokushinkan All Japan Tournament held in Tokyo on 14th-15th November.

Vladislav Dybskii of Russia won the -65kg cadet category and Emma Markwell of Great Britain won the Women's Openweight title.

The Formation of IFK South America

The country representatives of region formed the IFK South American Committee with the aim to develop the IFK Kumite, Kata and Clicker events. The participants were Mr. Jeovaldo Barreto (IFK Brazil), with his assistant, Sensei Felipe Canal; Sensei Germán Carballo (IFK Uruguay) and Shihan Julio Romero from IFK Argentina.

Two new 7th Dan promotions at Swiss Summer Camp with Hanshi

Congratulations to country representative Shihan Eduard Gabathuler and Shihan Klaus Ming on promotion by Hanshi Steve Arneil to the rank of 7th Dan at the Swiss summer camp. Well done to all other yudansha who received promotions.

The camp was held in Willisua under the guidance of Hanshi Steve Arneil and the IFK Switzerland chief instructors.  It was a successful camp focusing on all aspects of IFK kihon kata and kumite. Thanks to all other IFK countries that also took part.

IFK Sandnes dojo in Norway had a seminar with Shihan David at their dojo, it was great to see this seminar was open to other organisations and we thank them for their participation.

Russia Summer Camp 2015

This years camp was held in St Petersburg with the regional leaders of IFK Russia attending the camp. Hanshi Arneil and Shihan David Pickthall took the group through various technical sessions on Kihon and Kata, followed by Kumite and Bunkai. Hanshi also held a very successful Dan grading.

The 1st Full Contact Karate Camp - history in the making

The 1st Full Contact Karate Camp, open to all participants of contact karate, was held in Ostende Belgium 5-7 June, and organised by Shihan Keon Spitaels and Shihan Gilbert Cleveringa of WKO Shinkyokushin.

The Camp had over 400 karateka from 19 different countries and was supported by the IFK from Poland, Ireland, The Netherlands, France, Germany, Switzerland, UK and Belgium.

Around 150 karateka had sessions in IFK syllabus, Kata and Kumite and a dan grading was conducted under the control of Shihan Janine.
